Alzheimer’s Awareness Month in Canada

January 10, 2025

As Chairman of the Council of Commissioners of the Â鶹´«Ã½, I am proud to join communities across Canada in recognizing Alzheimer’s Awareness Month this January.

Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia affect hundreds of thousands of Canadians, including many families in our school board’s communities. This month serves as an opportunity to increase awareness, reduce stigma, and foster greater understanding of this progressive disease that touches people of all ages and walks of life.

At the Â鶹´«Ã½, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and compassionate environment for our students, staff, and families. Through education and outreach, we aim to instill values of empathy and support in the next generation.

We also acknowledge the tireless efforts of researchers, healthcare professionals, and advocacy organizations working to improve care, find treatments, and ultimately, discover a cure. Their work gives hope to so many affected by this disease.

Let us take this month as an opportunity to educate ourselves and others about Alzheimer’s and to stand in solidarity with those impacted. By fostering awareness and compassion, we can create a stronger, more understanding community.

On behalf of the Council of Commissioners, I thank everyone who contributes to this important cause and encourage all members of our school board community to join us in recognizing Alzheimer’s Awareness Month.
