2024 SUMMER PROGRAMS

As always, we will be offering summer programs in order to support our students. This year, we will be offering two summer programs:

Summer Enrichment Program (Sec. 1-3)

Who is it for?

This program is intended for Secondary 1-3 students

Classes are from July 8 to July 19, 2024

How do I register?

from June 25 to July 3.

IMPORTANT – Please note that this program is designed to enrich and consolidate the students’ knowledge so that they have an increasingly solid platform to continue their learning during the following academic year.
It does NOT involve an exam and does NOT result in changes to report card grades (a summer program report card will not be issued).

For any concerns you may have regarding your local school’s promotion policy, please contact the school’s guidance counsellor or principal.

What is it?

This is a cost-effective tutoring program that will allow students to consolidate their learning and reinforce their understanding of key curricular aspects in the following subjects:
● English Language Arts
● French as a Second Language
● Mathematics

Where is it?

The summer enrichment program will take place at:
Laval Senior Academy

What is the cost?

$280

Note – These courses are not covered by the governmental ‘Plan de rattrapage scolaire’ funds, which is why there is a charge for enrolment.

Summer Exam Preparatory Session (Sec. 4-5)

Classes are from July 8 to July 19, 2024, followed by an examination session from July 22 to August 2, 2024

How do I register?

Registration will be:
1. IN-PERSON at Laval Senior Academy on July 2 and July 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
2. ONLINE from June 25 to July 4 –

Who is it for?

This program is intended for Secondary 4-5 students

What is it?

This is a cost-effective intensive program to prepare students to be successful in ministerial exam
retakes (summer examination session), in order to ensure they gain the necessary credits required for
graduation.

Accordingly, this is intended for students who have failed MEQ courses.

The program is offered for the following courses:
● Sec. 4 Mathematics (CST and SN)
● Sec. 4 Science and Technology (ST)
● Sec. 4 History of Québec and Canada (HQC)
● Sec. 5 English Language Arts (ELA)
● Sec. 5 French as a Second Language (FSL)

Eligibility

All students are eligible, but it should be noted that when spaces are limited, priority will be given to
those whose failing grade falls in the 50-59% range.

The summer exam preparatory session will take place at:

What is the cost?

$0

Exam Retake Only Option

Who is it for?

Students who would like to register to retake exams (Summer Examination session) without enrolling
in the Summer Exam Preparatory Session.

What is the cost?

Where is it?

All examination retakes will take place at:

How do I register?

Registration will be:
1. IN-PERSON at Laval Senior Academy on July 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.;
2. ONLINE from July 11 to July 15;

External ‘Summer School’ courses at LEARN Quebec

Secondary 1-3 students from 鶹ý will NOT be eligible to register for
summer school courses at LEARN.

Secondary 4 students may register in the following courses at LEARN Quebec:
• Sec. 4 Environmental Science and Technology (EST) bridge (80 hours)
• Sec. 4 Mathematics (SN) bridge (80 hours)
• Sec. 4 Applied Science and Technology (AST) remedial course

The two bridge courses are intended for students who have successfully completed either the
corresponding Mathematics CST course or the Science and Technology ST course with a final result
of 85% or more.

The students completing the Mathematics SN bridge course will have to write the exams with the
summer program (see the ). Students completing the Environmental Science and
Technology (EST) bridge course will be evaluated through LEARN.

The Applied Science and Technology course is intended for students who failed the course during the
school year. Students taking the course online during the summer will need to write the final exam with
the summer program (see ).

NOTE – Success in these bridge courses does not guarantee placement or promotion at the students’
school for the following academic year; please contact your school’s guidance counsellor for further
details.
